Biblical Counseling

Are you ready for transformation?

No matter what you’ve been through or what you’re facing, there is hope available to YOU. God cares for you and so do we. Counseling services are available through The Nehemiah Project for those struggling with anxiety or depression, emotional or relational distress, past hurts, destructive behavior, or any other issue with which you need help.

How is biblical counseling different?

Biblical counseling is different from traditional mental health counseling or psychological care. Our fundamental philosophy is that God is our Creator, and therefore we should look to Him as the source to answer the big questions of life: Do I matter? What is my purpose? How can I be free from my struggles? God is good, and His Truth is good for us.

How does it work?

The primary aim of biblical counseling is to help identify false beliefs in the heart, and assist clients in bringing their cognition, emotion, and volition into alignment with Scripture.

This process facilitates freedom from bondage in its many forms in the life of the participant. Inner freedom in the heart results in joy and peace that are not dependent upon your circumstances. The Bible also provides practical guidance for many of the problems we struggle with in daily life, such as resolving conflict and how to change.

Are you ready to begin?

1) Schedule your intake session

Every client begins their counseling journey at The Nehemiah Project with a session with our Intake Director. This helps us to gain important background information & walk you through the informed consent process.

2) Meet your Biblical counselor

Your counselor will recommend a counseling plan (for example, 10 sessions over the course of 3 months) based on the information you share during intake. We will work with you to find a regular appointment time that works for your schedule.

3) experience hope restored

Your counselor will compassionately work to help you dismantle the harmful patterns of belief in your heart, and establish a new foundation on the truth of God’s Word. As truth takes root, you will begin to experience the freedom that God desires for you.
